TE KUITI.

SOCIAL.—The tennis social on Thursday evening last was a decided success, so far as affording a pleasant evening's amusement was concerned, and I believe tho proceeds will go a long way towards liquidating the club's outstanding debt. The floor was in first-class order for dancing, and the hall wa,s very prettily decorated. There is no need to comment on the supper, as that is always certain to be good when the Kuiti ladies have the matter in hand, with Miss Bond at their head. Mr P. Johnson proved a most efficient M.C., and carried out his onerous duties in a most satisfactory manner. A number of sougs were well rendered during the eveniug, the principal singers being Misses Bond and Meredith, and Messrs P. and 0. J. Johnson. Cbioket. —A largely-attended meeting was held at Mr J. T. Hetit's on Saturday evening, to revive our cricket club, when the following officers were elected for the ensuing year :- President, Mr C. W. Hursthouse; vice-presidents, Messrs J. T. Hetit, VV. H. Adams. A. L. Sealy. "VV. Bond and H. Hetit; Captain. Mr C. E. Bennett; Hon. Secretary and Treasurer, Mr G. C. Mayo ; Committee, Messrs Bennett, Mayo, Keakley and "A. Johnson. It was decided to purchase cocoanut matting for a pitch and some matting for practice, also a new match bat and ball, if funds would permit. A number of new members were enrolled, and judging by the enthusiasm displayed at the meeting the club should give a good account of themselves this season.—(Own Correspondent).
