CABLE SUMMARY.
The Registration Court has disallowed the claim of Mr W. P. Reeves to vote in respect of the Agency-General on the ground that the Government is the real occupant.
The Daily Chronicle publinhes many details of Rougemont's Australasian career, and admits that he was lost io the bush for three years. Rougemont has not replied to the Chronicle's statements. It states that Rougemont, when visiting Greasy, his native place, in August, avoided his relatives. The desecration of Penn's tomb was the work of a demented Quaker. The charge has been withdrawn. A cablegram from St. Petersburg statea that Beliakerich, a Catbolic priest of Kovuo, has been charged with imprisoning and flagellating a women in a vault for intimacy with an orthodox Russian. He used a phosphorescent skeleton to frighten his victim. Riots have occurred as a protest against the prosecution. Calcutta has been declared free from the plague. The Daily Chronicle says the use of tinned beef and drinking was the cause of the enteric fever among the British troops at Alexandria. Sir Thomas Lipton has purchased from Mr Robert Goelet, a prominent American yachtsman, the steam yacht Nation for £BO,OOO.
Mr Barton, the Federal leader inNcw South Wales, entertained at a jflft-uet at Bathurst, said he would not emntenance id'e censure motions, but would assist the Government to secure federation if they showed any sincerity in the cause.
