(IIY TELEGRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION). Auckland, Last Night. The 52 cots required for the Costley Wards of the Children's Hospital have been donated by the public and public bodies. The Chinese gave one, and the children of the city public schools are subscribing one. Labour Day was observed as a holiday by the Government officers and banks, but not otherwise.

Mr J. H, Witheford cabled to-day that he is unable to open a subscription list in London for the Grey statue fund, as he is returning to the colony by the P. and 0, steamer India.
