HAMILTON STOCK MARKETS. At the ordinary monthly sale, held in the Hamilton Borough Yards on Thursday, an average number of stock was brought torward, with a good attendance of the public. Beef cattle were in full numbers and iu brisk demand, at prices somewhat higher than those ruling at the last sale. Some well-fatted ateers, from Mr Geo. Way, of Tamahere, made £7 ss; young cattle were dull of sale. The dairy pens were full; but the quality generally was poor, no high prices being reached. Sheep were iu fair supply and in good demand ; Mr I. Coates getting 133 for fat ewes ; Mr Gardner, of the Rukuhia Estate, had two pens of spring lambs, which made the satisfactory price of lis each. Pigs were iu very heavy supply, the pen accommodation not being sufficient for quarter the number. Prices were dowu fully Is' per head from last sale, several pens being passed. Cattle : Prices were : Yearlings, small, 8s 6d to 12s 6d ; best sorts, to 15s ; 18-months cattle, heifers, 24s to 30s ; steers, £llss to £2 ; empty cows, poor and aged, 13s to 25s ; good fresh cows, £2 to £2 15s ; bulls, £1 to £3 10s ; fat cows, £3 15s to £4 8s ; fat heifers, £3 53 to £4 2s 6d : fat steers, £5 3s to £7 5s ; dairy cows, aged, £2 to £2 17s 6d ; medium cows, £3 to £4 2s 6d ; springing heifers, £2 5s to £3 7s 6d. Sheep : Fat ewes, 10s lid to 13s ; mixed sexes, lis 9d to 12s; fat lambs, lis ; store ewes, 5s Id ; ewes with lambs at side, 9s 6d. Pigs : Weaners, 4s to 8s ; slips, 7s 6d to 15s ; grown pigs, 17s 6d to ]9s ; pure Berkshire boars, six months' old, from Mr George Edgecumbe, junr., 355.

AUCKLAND MARKETS.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) report:—Auckland Wool Stores, sth October. At our weekly sale yesterday, we dealt with a large catalogue of hides, skins, wool, tallow, etc. Hides sold well, under keen competition, at fully equal to late rates. Heavy stout, sjd to 6d ; no extra prime offering ; stout, 4sd to sjd ; medium, 4d to 4|d ; light, 3£d to 3sd ; cow, best, 3Jd to 3.£d ; picked, 3|d ; stags, 2id to 3£d : kip, 3d to 3£d ; calf, sound, 3£d to 4d ; scored and sloppy, jd to less. Sheepskins at about late rates. Large skins, 5s to 5s lOd ; small and medium, 3s 9d to 4s 9d. Wool : Fleece, 5d to ssd lb. Tallow : Best, 15s to 16s cwt. Horsehair : Is to Is Id lb. Tails : Is 4d dozen. Oats : Last week's quotations still hold good, viz., 2s 6d and 2s 7d ex store. Maize : Shipments to hand this week were very heavy, and the market immediately fell to 2s 6d on the the wharf, and had it not been that a large quantity was reserved, and had to go to store, the market would no doubt have come down another penny. Chaff : Arrivals have fallen off somewhat during the past week. Present rate is £4 at the railway. Messrs. Hunter and Nolan's Report.—Borsefeed, seed, grain, etc. : Maize is selling on wharf at 2s 8d ; ex store, 2s lOd ; feed oats, 2s 8d ; seed do., 3s 3d bushel; bran, £3 15s to £4 ton; oaten chaff, £4 5s to £4 10s ton ; oaten straw chaff, £2. Horses: On Friday, at the Durham Yards, horses were again yarded in large numbers, and disposed of. Heavy draughts brought from £l9 to £26 5s ; medium do., £lO 10s to £l7 17s 6d; light harness do., £3 7s 6d to £l2 . ss; one handsome dog-cart horse making £23 5s ; hacks, £3 2s 6d to £9 17s 6d ; weeds, 10s to £2 7s 6d. The imported American standard-bred trotting stallion Plaasanton was sold privately at a satisfactory figure to a Waiuku resident. Wool, hides, skins, and tallow: Hides— A slight improvement in price ; ox hides sold from 3fd to 4-Jd ; steers, 2Jd to 3£d ; cows; 2Jd to 3gd ; calfskins, 2d to fy-i ; tallow, 14s to 15s 6d cwt; bones, £3 15s • ton. Sheepskins—Large catalogues sold at late rates ; ordinary, Is 8d to 4s 5d ; heavy, 4s 6d to 5s 9d ; pelts, 3d to Is 2d ; lambskins, 6d to Is 3d ; woo!, 4d to 5Ad ; pieces, 3d to 3Jd ; locks, lb. Cattle : At the hewrnarket Yards on Tuesday dairy and store stock were yarded in usual numbers, but beef penned in scarcely average quantities, although the quality was first-class. Mr R. Hall sold two splendid four-year-old bullocks, one from his farm at Te Rore, Waikato, brought £l3, and the other, from the One-Tree Hill Estate, made £l2. Fat oxen sold at from 17s to 20s 1001 b ; cows, 16s to 18s; steers sold at from £5 2s 6d to £l3 ; cows, £3 15s to £6 17s 6d ; dairy cows, £2 12s 6d to £5 ss. At Papakura on Wednesday there was a large muster of all sorts, and Newmarket rates ruled. Sheep: The Newmarket Yards were fairly well filled on Tuesday, but showed a slight decline in prices; fat wethers sold at from 12s to 17s 3d ; shorn do., 8s 9d to 10s 9d; ewes, lis 9d to 14s 6d; shorn do., 7s 9d to 9s 9d ; spring lambs sold at from 7s 3d to lis 3d. Pigs : Scarce, sold at from 8s 6d to £1 2s. Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons' Weekly Report.—At the Haymarket, meadow hay has brought at the auction from 33 to 4s Gd ; oaten sheaves, 3s Gd

cwt; straw, los to £1 load; ex store pressed hay, 4s to 4s Gd ; chaff, 4s Oil cwt; oats, 2s 8d to 3s Id ; maize, 2s lOd bushel ; guano, £3 10s : bonedust, £7 ton ; maize, on wharf, 2% Id bushel. On Friday horse stock of a useful class, suitable for general farm purposes, were yarded numerously, and met a steady demand at from £ls to £25 each. Hacks and ridiog horses dull of sale. A spring cart brought £B. On Tuesday both hides

and skins showed improved values. Sound ox hides were from 3|d to 4jd ; steers and cow hides, 3d to 3fd ; calfskins, f 4d to 3|d lb ; tails, Is 3d dozen ; tallow, "ins cwt; fat, lj-d lb ; bones, 3s 9d cwt; fresh skins, 3a (jd to 5s ; dry skins, Is 7d to 4s; lambs, 9d to Is 6d each. At Remuera on Thursday dairy cows, in usual numbers, were at late values ; those at profit were from £3 to £4l2s 6d. Store cattle fairly represented, were without alteration in price.". Eat calves, 60 sold, were required. Small calves were from 3s to 10s, heavy los to £1 us. Tat cattle, in average numbers, 23S sold, were irregular in price--, and sold from 16s to £1 the 1001 b. Steers were from £5 to £9 10s; cows, £3 to £5 12s 6d. Sheep, in short supply, advanced in value. Wethers ranged from 12s 9d to 18s ; ewes, 12s to los 9d. Lambs, yarded numerously, 2/0 sold, were slightly lower in price, and brought from 6s 9d to lis. Tigs, in average number, SO sold. Heavy pigs brought up to £2 19s; rough store pigs were at low values.
