MORRINSVILLE CRICKET CLUB.
The eighth annual meeting of the Morrinsville Cricket Club was held in the Nottingham Castle Hotel on Saturday, October Ist, Mr J. C. Allen in the chair. The Secretary's report showed that five outside matches had been played, resulting in two wins and three losses. The club's account showed a credit, balance of £1 15s 6d. The presentation bat given by the club for the best batting average was won by Mr J. C. Allen (captain) with an average of 7 S 3, Mr H. Papesch being second with 7 - 55, and Mr Schofield ran them very close with 7*09. Mr W. Neels secured the " cap and sash " for the best bowling analysis with the splendid average of 4* 28, Mr R. Allen being second with 4'73. The following officers were elected for the ensuing season :—Patron : Mr \V. S. Allen. President : Mr John McCaw. Vice-Presidents : Messrs W. H. Hemes, J. C. Allen, F. J. Marshall, Dr. Waddington, H. and J. Clifford, A. Aitken, T. Heath, A. Orr, F. Cole, W. Scholium, M. Harrison, aud W. P. Chepmell. Captain : Mr J. C. Allen. Vice-cap-lain : Mr YV. Neels. Secretary and Treasurer : Mr W. Scholium. Committee : Messrs J. C. Allen, W. Neels, W. Scholium, H. Harding, and J. W. Schofield. Auditor : Mr F. J. Marshall.
The subscription for the season was fixed at us for playing members and 10s (id for honoraiy. The practice evenings were fixed for Wednesdays and Saturdays. Hearty votes of thanks were accorded to Mr John McCaw for the use of the ground ; to the ladies of the district for their kind assistance in providing afternoon tea, etc. ; to Mr Schofield as secretary ; and to Mits Butcher who so ably kept the score for the past season. It was decided, if funds would permit at the end of the ensuing season, to present l- bat to the bowler with the best analysis. The meeting theu terminated with a hearty vote of thanks {o the chair, and in responding Mr J. C. Allen hoped the club would have a successful season, and promised to present a bat to the player with the best batting average for the season IS9S-99.
