WELLINGTON NEWS.

(BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION). Wellington, Last Night. News has been received that the ship Soukar (Capt. Wood), bouud from Glasgow to Dunedin and Wellington, has put into Mauritius, it is supposed dismasted. She has transhipped her cargo. The Tarawera, while entering the Bluff Harbour on Friday last, struck on some submerged substance, believed to be the same patch of rocks which the Monowai struck on August 30th, 1897. A diver, sent down to inspect the vessel, found her to be uninjured, the only evidence of contact being the paint scraped off. Inspector Broham has withdrawn his resignation. Wm. Farrel attempted suicide at Filtham yesterday by cutting his throat with a razor. The wound is serious.
