Shanghai. October 4. The servants of the Dowager Empress arrested the Emperor, when he was trying to escape from the palace. He was ill and helpless at the time. It is reported that he has since committed suicide. It is rumoured that the foreign Ambassadors at Pekin were aware that the Emperor showed signs of arsenical poisoning before the edict was issued, expressing regret at the Emperor's ill-health. The wife of the Italian Minister at Pekin has been attacked by Chinese.
