KIHIKIHI.

Town Board. —The usual meeting of the Kihikihi Town Board was held in the Town Hall on Friday. September 30th. This was the first meeting of the newlyelected Board. The following were present :—Commissioners Corboy, Elmsly, Dinneeo, Tristram and Thomson. Mr M. Dinneen was elected Chairman for the ensuing term. Correspondence: Circular from the Ohinemuri CouDty Council re the proposed Municipal Franchise Reform and Local Government Voting Bill, objecting to many of the clauses and drawing the attention of local bodies to the Fame. It was resolved to reply that the Board would cordially support the Council in their movement. Letter from Mr Cumpstone objecting to pay an increase of rent, and asking the Board to grant him the services of a man for one day to clean out the well at his house. The application was granted. Letter from Mr Giesham re late election of commmissioners was read, and it was decided that no action be taken in the matter. Mr Porter, of the Star Hotel, wrote complaining of a bad smell arising from the sink near his house. Resolved to have sink inspected and arrange to remedy the evil. It was resolved (1) that Lot? 85, 86, 87 and 284 be leased by public auction for fourteen years ; (2) that lhe Chairman and Com. Elmsly be appointed to sign cheques on behalf of the t ßoard; (3) tenders be called for repairs to Grey-street, to be returnable by next meeting. The following accounts were passed for payment: R. Buckworth, 7s 6d ; Waipa County Council, os 4d ; R. Mainwaring, £5 lis Sd ; A. Swarbrick, £4 18s od. School Committee.—The monthly meeting of the school committee was held on Wednesday night last.—lt was resolved that tenders be called for clearing the three acres (school reserve) at the back of the school, and that the subcommittee show the work.—The following accounts were passed for payment: — Upton and Co., £3 4s Id ; J. Elmsly, lis b'd; J. Clark, 8s; Town Hall Co., 10s ; R. McDonnell, 4s 6d. Creamery Retorns.— The total supply of milk to the local creamery for the month of September was 14,097 gallons. The daily supply is fast increasing, and is at present some 800 gallons. Bad Luck.—Mr Geo. McGhic has had the misfortunate to lose two valuable horses within a few weeks, both animals having died from inflammation of the bowels. In the case of the second one a post-mortem was made and Mr McGhie informs me that he found a hard mass or ball of minute worms, which had caused an obstruction, and set up rapid inflammation. Footballers' Concert.—The annual concert in aid of the Kihikihi Football Club was held in the Town Hall, on Thursday night last. There was a crowded house. Mr J. Hutchinson kindly acted as Chairman, and at the conclusion of the programme briefly thanked all the performers, and rcftrring to Mr O'Couuor's banner, at pre-ent in the possession of the Kihikihi Club, which was proudly displayed on the stage, upokc of the uncertainty of its location next year, and very aptly expressed his wish that it might long remain in Kihikihi ; needless to Bay that his remarks were loudly applauded. The following programme was gone through, each item being well received and thoroughly appreciated : Waltz," Orchestra ; " Death of Nelson," Mr Bathurst ; " Jessie's Dream," Miss Reid ; duet, " Very Suspicous." Miss Reid and Captain Reid ; " Tell Her I Love Her So," Mr M. Laurie ; " I'm Selling Out My Appy Home," Mr S. Armstrong ; violin solo, Miss Bowdeu ; " Maria Stella," Mrs Gardiner ; " Bid Me To Love," Mr A. Brett ; recitation, Mrs Walker ; exhibition of Indian Club swinging, Mr Ogle ; pianoforte duet, Mrs and Miss Ellis ; " Ye Gallants of England, Mr Rigg ; " In The Year One Hundred And One," Captain Reid ; " Killarney," Mr Bathurst ; " Strangers Yet," Mrs Gardiner ; "True Till Death," Mr Laurie ; " The Soldier's Good-bye/' Mr Brett ; " Why Don't You Marry The Girl," Mr K. Gorrie ; "God Save The Queen." Mrs Hutchinson and Mr F. Corboy played most of the accompaniments in a most efficient manner. The hall was cleared and dancing was kept up till about 2 a.m.—(Own Correspondent).
