PRESENTATION TO MRS MURRAY.

On Saturday afternoon there was a large and representative gathering of the parishioners of St. Peter's Church, Hamilton, at the Vicarage, the occasion being a farewell afternoon tea tendered to Mrs J. M. Murray, who is leaving Hamilton to-day. Delightful refreshment were served and during an interval the Incumbent, Rev. R. O'C. Biggs, on behalf of the vestry and choir, presented Mrs Murray with a pair of gold-mounted spectacles as a momento of her connection with church work in Hamilton, and in a few telling words he referred to the mmy duties performed by Mrs Murray during her lengthv residence in Hamilton. Mr R. \V. Dyer, Secretary to the vestry, read the following letter : Dear Mrs Murray,—We, the vestry of St. Peter's Church, Hamilton, fully sensible of the very great loss which the parish will sustain by your lemoval from among us, feel that we cannot allow you to depart without expressing our heartfelt gratitude to you for the very many valuable services which you have at all times so willingly rendered to the church during your long residence in our midst. In every branch of church work you have ever taken a prominent part, and it has been very largely due to your forethought, skill, zeal and liberality that it has met with such a measure of success. Speaking on behalf of the parishioners, we cannot find words to express the universal regret caused by your removal to another sphere of work in the Master's vineyard, where >ve trust your labours of love will be as fully appreciated as they have been by us, and wc assure you that you carry with you our best wishes for the future happiness and prosperity of yourself and family.—Signed on behalf of the vestry, 11. O'C. BIGGS, Vicar. Mrs Murray replied in feeling terms, and thanked the donors for their kindness to her. The gathering, after spending a short time iu sociability, then broke up.
