WAIKATO WEST INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION.

A MEETING of the executive committee of the above was held on Friday evening last, Mr Vause presiding, the other members and secretary beinu present, when a large amount of routine business was got through.

The Chairman repotted that since the last meeting a large number of donations and " special prizes " had been received. It was agreed to allot prizes for Maori exhibits, and a supplementary schedule of special prizes was drafted and approved, the Secretaiy being instructed to have the same printed aud circulated as soon as possible. The special prices donated include many handsome donations, which have been allocated for shirt making, butter making, birthday cakes, school drill, model buildings, etc., particulars of which will be found Jully set out in the supplementary schedules. Any further special prizes that may be donated will be allocated by the executive committee.

It was agreed that any young person whose parents or guardians reside in the exhibition district, or who may in any other way be regarded as belonging to the district, be allowed to compete; that competitors in Section XL (musical competitions) be allowed instrumental accompaniments if so desired ; that exhibitors in nou competitive classes be allowed to ticket their exhibits " For Sale," provided that a small percentage of receipts from any sales effected be paid to the exhibition fund. The nonpompetitive classes are open to exhibitors frqm any part of the Waikato district or e'sew tiere, and a large number of loan exhibits have also been promised.

The question of providing refreshments at the exhibition was considered, and it beinc; understood that a ladies' committee was likely to tender for the right to supply refreshments, the macter was left over till next meeting. The Chairman was authorised to make the necessary arrangements for staging, etc., required, and also to arrange for concert programme and the supply of music for the lady's stringed orohestra, who, under the able direction of Mr Wall, have kindly undertaken to perforin at the exhibition. Other special attractions also are being arranged for, so. that patrons of the exhibition Will rjnd plenty to both instruct,'interest and amuse. It was suggested that the exhibition--which promises to be on a larger scale and much more successful than the pro-: mqtprs at ijrst expected—should be open for two days, and it is probable that this suggestion may be adopted, The appointing of judges in the various sections was considered, several names were selected subject to their approval, and further consideration deferred till next meeting. ' It was agreed to issue complimentary tickets to all contributing vice-patrons and other subscribers, judges, steward?, and performers. Tenders for printing were received from both Waikato papers, and there being little or no difference in the aggregate quotations, it was Wahimoflsly agreed to divide the printing as Alt)y as possible. The question qf issuing printed catalo-. gfles or entries, etc was considered, and It was'decided to invite advertisements for insertion in same, and if sufficient inducement oilers, to have full catalogues printed. Other business of minor importance was transacted and the meeting adjourned.
