THE PROPOSED SCHOOL AMALGAMATION.
TO THE KDITOK. Sir,—l sec by your report of the meeting of the Hamilton West School Committee that you give me credit for bciug oppo ed to the school amalgamation. This is quite contrary to fact. Being under the impression (as most of the committeemen are) that the site proposed by the Board is on that low-lying piece of land near the river, I opposed the site —not the amalgamation—and suggested that should the amalgamation he brought about the present site of the Hamilton West School would be preferable for the central school rather than the unhealthy, dangerous one that it is presumed the Board suggests near the river. That puts quite a "different construction on the matter, doesn't it ? If a «te could be secured cither on Mr Uoates' flat or on the hill near St. Peter's Church, no doubt the amalgamation will be brought about. —I am, etc., John Andrew. Hamilton West, September 21st, 1898.
