SIX HUNDRED LIVES LOST. (BY ELKCTBIC TELEGRAI'II COI'YBIUHT). London, September 17. The hurricane in the West Indies raged for seven hours. It was the worst experienced since 1831. Up to the present 600 deaths are recorded. Ten thousand huts were destroyed at Barbadoes, where 50,000 persons have been rendered homeless. At St. Vincent, 41,000 are without shelter or food. The Lord Mayor of London has opened a fund for the relief of the sufferers. > Mr Chamberlain has cabled his sympathy, and the warships at Jamaica and Halifax are engaged conveying stores to the devastated islands.
