CAMBRIDGE ROAD BOARD.

The above Board met at the Criterion Hotel, Cambridge, on Saturday, at 3 p.m. Present : Messrs Day (chairman), Taylor, Main and Thomas. Closing Roads.—Mr Mueller, Commissioner of Crown Lands, waited upon the Board re closing roads through the St. Kilda township. Objections had been lodged by Messrs Kite and Heaslip, and several members of the Board pointed out that it would close a portion of what would eventually be a main road from the Thornton to the Gorton Roards. It was unanimously resolved to object to any of the roads being closed. The Franchise Bill.— The Ohinemuri County Council wrote asking the Board to object to the Franchise Bill, now before the House.—lt was resolved to ask Mr Lang to do all he possibly could to prevent the Bill becoming law. The Surfaceman.—On the motion of Mr Main, it was resolved to instruct the surfaceman to repair holes in the roads all over the district, without any special orders being given. Finance. —At date, the Board was in debt to the extent of £45 2s 6d ; and one account, T, Pennell, £9 3s, was passed for payment. A Bridge Wanted.—lt was resolved - to put a small bridge over a drain near Mr J. McCanu's property at the foot of Maungakawa, joining the Education Reserve. Appointment of Clerk, etc.—There were only three applicants for this appointment, viz. : Captain McPherson (who has hitherto held the appointment), Messrs M. Butler and T. Hartly.—The first-mentioned was appointed. Place and Hour of Meeting.—lt was resoived to meet iu future at 3 p.m. in the Cambridge Public Hall, which had been offered by Mr H. Kerr, the lessee. —Mr Thomas thought they should not be under au obligation to auy man. Mr Kerr had to pay for the hall, and they should pay their quota for it. He moved that they pay Mr Kerr £1 per annum for it, which was unanimously agreed to.
