CRUELTY TO ANIMALS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —ln your issue of Tuesday last you mention that several cows have died in Hamilton East this winter from a "swelling in the throat." I think that if the owners of most of the walking skeletons of cows one meets in Hamilton East would only swell the poor beasts stomachs out a little, they would stand a better chance of living till the spring. Is there no representative of the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Hamilton ? If there is why does be not do his duty and prosecute people who keep more cattle than they can feed and allow them to starve iu the streets I am, etc., Agricola.
