HAMILTON CRICKET CLUB.

The animal meeting of the members of the Hamilton Cricket Club was held in Mr H. 11. Howden's sample-room on Tuesday eveniug. There was a large attendance, close on thirty members being present. In the absence of the President, Mr Geo. Edgeeumbe, one of the VicePresidents, was voted to the chair. Report, etc.—The Secretary read the annual report, which, after congratulating the club on the progress made during the season, both as to membership and financially, referred to the position—-s.'cond-gainel in the competition, under the Waipa Cricket Association, and expressed the hope that this season the position of the club in this respect would be improved The bat presented by Mr J. W. H. Bright, of the Hamilton Hotel, had becu awarded to the player who gained the best batting average in cup matches, and had been won by Mr A. E. Manning. Reference was also made to the services rendered iu bowling by H. Johnston, D. Jack, C. J. W. Barton, L. Rollinson and S. Meachem. In conclusion, thanks was expressed to all who had accorded assistance to the club during the season. The balance - sheet showed the receipts to have been £S 10s Gd and tire expenditure £7 lis Sd, which included the payment of some long standing accounts, leaving a credir, balance of 18s 10d. On the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Mr P. E. Stevens, the report and balance-sheet were unanimously adopted. Thanks.—Votes of thanks, on the suggestion of the secretary, were accorded to Mr Preston and Mrs Hamilton for the use and promised use of the matting, and to Mr Bright for his presentation bat. Nkw Mkmbkrs. —The following were elected as members of the club, viz: Douslin, Howdeu, Young, Varney, T. Kirk, junr., Marker, Diggle, Bockett, von Stunner, G. Parr, Mclntyrc, W. Evans, Elliott, Kinsella, Coomber and Officers.--The following officers were re-elected, viz : Patron, Mr F. VV. Lang, M.H.R ; President, Mr W. Dey, Mayor of Hamilton ; vine-Presidents, Messrs T. Walter, G. Edgeeumbe, I. Coates, L. O'Neill, Dr. Keuny, N. R. Cox, T. Slade, R. Spencer, T. Kirk, senr., J. W. H. Bright, M.G. Farrer.A. J. Storey, R. h\ Sandes, J. 6. Bund, F. \V. Browning, and Dr. Brewis; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr A. E. Manning (Mr Malion was suggested for these offices. Mr Manning stating that in the discharge of his duties he had, perhaps, come in conflict with some of the members, and he would rather be relieved, The members, however, all spoke of the excellent work done for the. Club by Mr Manning, and at their unanimous request he again consented to accept office). The following were elected as a ground and general committee: Messrs J. Dean, C. Speight, VV. C. Castleton, G. Mahon, J. Hammond, T. Crcightou, P. E. Stevens, F. K. Kinloch, C. J. W. Barton and O. Malion. Mr O. J. W. Barton was elected Captain and Mr C. Speight vice-Captain. Presentation.—The Chairman said he had a very pleasant duty to perform in presenting the bat donated by Mr bright, and whijh had been awarded to the player with the best batting average, The bat had been won by Mr Manning, and he was sure that the whole of the members would be glad of his success, as it was mainly owing to his untiring efforts that the club had had such a successful season. They all remembered the oecasion when Mr Manning had made the score which had materially assisted in placing him at the top of the tree, and he hoped that he would be able, in all respects, to repeat the performance this vear. He then presented the bat to Mr Manning, who suitably acknowledged the same, and said that it would always be available for use by 'dub members. Opening.—lt was left to the ground committee to sec to the ground, and arrange for the opening of the season. Since the meeting the Secretary informs us that Mr J W. H. Bright has presented a bat and Mr D. Salmon a ball to the club for competition.
