HAMILTON STOCK MARKETS. At the monthly sale held in theHumil ton Borough Yards on Thursday, a large number of stock was brought forward, far more cattle being in than there was pen accommodation for, consequently a number of lots had to be sold in the drafting yards. Beef cattle were in heavy supply, occupying nearly two rows of pens, or about 120 head altogether, but, though of good quality, they were dull of sale, especially heavy weights, which were relatively lower in price than secondary grades, cow beef making from 12s 6d to 14s 6d per 1001 b, steers a shade higher, many of the best pens being passed. Young cattle were yarded freely, but the demand was poor and few were sold. Dairy cows were in moderate supply, about 40 being yarded, and for anything of choice quality competition was good up to £5 ss. The sheep pens were filled with a good assortment of fat sheep, for which there was a fair demand, but at lower rates than have lately rnled, best longwools making lis 6d. Pigs were in full supply and brisk demand, and are likely to continue so for Borne months to come. The pen # accommodation for this class of stock is, however, badly arranged, and quite inadequate for ordinary requirements. Prices were : Calves, 10s to 14s 6d ; 18-months cattle (mixed sexes), 15s to 18s 6d ; twoyear heifers, 24s to 26s ; two-year steers, £1 15s to £2 5s ; fresh four-year-old bullocks from Glen Murray, £4 5s to £o 5s ; stags, £3 ; empty cows, £1 9s to £2 12s 6d ; fat cows, £3 to £4 10s ; fat heifers, £2 10s to £3 15s ; fat steers, £5 las to £6 15s ; bulls, 10s to £2 7s_; dairy cows, aged and poor, 30s to £2 10s ; good young cows, £3 to £5 ss; springing heifers, £2 5s to £4 10s. Sheep : Pat ewes, 9s to lis 6d ; fat wethers (longwool), 10s to lis 4d ; do. (crossbred), 9s 6d ; longwool ewes with lambs at side, 6s to 9s.
