WAIKATO HOSPITAL BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting of the Waikato Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held at the Council Chambers, Hamilton, on Thursday morning. There were present : His Worship the Mayor, Mr W. Dey (Chairman), and Messrs W. P. Chepmell, W. C. King, Ed. Allen, S. Steele, A. J. Farmer, R. J. McGuirk, J. B. Teasdule, F. J. Vickers, \V. H. Thomas, A. Primrose, A. Furze and A. Bach.
Pension.--In reply to the Board, the Minister for Lands stated that if the Board got an order from James Ryland for the money recommended by the Naval and Military Claims Commissioner, and the money was voted by Parlia-. ment to carry out the recommendation the amount would be handed to the
Board. Davidson's Allotment. —Mr A. Swarbrick reported that he had communicated with Mr T. K. Davidson re the erection of a fence on the land recently leased from the Board by him. Mr Davidson, he said, objected to putting a " sufficient feuce," as required by the Act, but had promised to see that the fences were left in good order throughout. —The Board approved of the action.
Resignation.—Miss Crawford forwarded her resignation as nurse, on account of family matters, and asked to be relieved of her duties within a month.— In his report the Surgeon Superintendent stated that circumstances had arisen which necessitated Nurse Crawford's presence in Auckland, and the young lady had been compelled to leave before the expiration of the notice.—The resignation was received with regret. Finance.—The Secretary read the following statement of the finances of the Board :—Amounts due from contributing bodies, £IOOB 0s Id; subsidy due, £IOO6 0s Id ; fees, say £l7O ; rents, £3O ; cash in Bank, £l3l Is; less accounts to pay, £203 Is lOd; total, £2139 19s 41. Thanks.-Mr R. Harrison, of Te Kumi, wrote thanking Dr. Kenny and the nursing staff for the attention shown him while iu the institution.—Mr R. Henry also wrote in a similar strain regarding the attention bestowed upon his late father. Charge Nurse. Two applications were received for the position of charge nurse, vi*,., Miss E. A. Smith and Miss Jessie Brown. The latter was appointed. Secretary's Report.—ln his report the Secretary stated that David Wright, an inmate of the Refuge, who suffered from chronic rheumatism, wished to be sent to his relatives in Belfast. The cost would be about £l6 or £l7, while his maintenance cost £lB a year in the Refuge. This matter was left over for the present. —He also reported that Wm. Lalor, another inmate, had been guilty of disorderly conduct. —The Board decided to discharge Lalor. Mes Jones. Mr Farmer reported that Mrs S. Jones, of Te Aroha, was totally unfitted to do anything towards earning her own living, and advised that the Board should endeavour to get her into the Oostley Home. —This was agreed to.
