A SAILOR KILLED.

(by telegraph—press association). Wellington, Last Night. Wm. Hodge, a hand employed on the s.s. Westralia, was sent up the main mast-head this morning to fix a block, when he slipped and fell to the deck, his head striking an angle iron. He was killed on the spot. He was 24 years of age and a native of England, An inquest has been held, and a verdict of accidental death recorded. It is said that Hodge before climbing up the mast casually remarked to a shipinaic that he did not like the job, aud felt it would be his death.
