OTAGO V. WELLINGTON,
(BY TELEGRVPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION). Wellington, Last Night. Otago won the match against Wellington by nine points to nil. There was a large attendance and keen interest was shown in the game by the spectators, but unfortunately a strong wind blew down the ground which kept the side playing against it mostly on the defensive and prevented any really open play. Otago had the wind in their favour in the first spell and scored two tries, followed by another shortly after the game resumed. No goals were kicked. Wellington twice took the ball over the line ; but on each occasion failed to secure it, though they should have done so. The visitors' backs were very strong both in attack aud defence, and the score was wholly their work, Duncan, Armifc and Stephenson each crossing the Hue. Their passing was extremely accurate, while that of their opponents was the reverse. The Wellington forwards put in a lot of good work," and, on the whole, were slightly suoerior to the others. The game was played in an excellent spirit, but the referee's whistle was constantly going, for breaches of the rules, especially off-side play, which was mostly the tault of the local players.
