WAINGARO.
Polo Club.—The annual meeting of the Waingaro Polo Club was held on Saturday, 3rd inst., at the residence of Messrs Seaville Bros'., and there was a good attendance of members. Mr Hewitt was voted to the chair, and the treasurer, Mr Shilson, read the balance-sheet, showing a balance of £2 12s Id cash in hand, and goods £2 2s, which was unanimously adopted. The Secretary (Mr A. Upton) read a letter from the Secretary of the Hot Springs Club, thanking them for their help at the sports, and inviting them to play at any convenient time during the season. Mr R. Seavill was then unanimously elected secretary and treasurer. Mr W. Seavill moved that all officers be elected by ballot, which was carried. The Chairman moved that the officers consist of captain, vice-captain, secretary and treasurer and two members, three to form a quorum. Carried. Messrs flewett and H. Bull were elected captain and vice-captain respectively. Messrs W. Seavill and G. McMillan having received the greatest number of votes were declared members of the committee. It was resolved that the vice-captain and secretary be the measuring committee. The captain and secretary were elected the ground committee, and Mr C. S. Vernon waselected President. The annual subscription was decided to be 10s. Play was arranged to start in November, selection committee to consist of captain, vice-captain and secretary. A vote of thauks was passed to Mr "Vernon for the use of the ground, and to the ladies who had provided afternoon tea.— The retiring secretary and treasurer were also thanked for their services.—Mrs Hewett having kindly offered to make arrangements for providing afternoon tea during the coming season, her kind offer was gratefully accepted.—lt was resolved, ou the motion of the vice-captain, that an effort be made to start the season by a match between the two local clubs.—A vote of thanks to the chairman brought the meeting to a close, and an adjournment wajtfnnde to the next room, where ample of various kinds had been provided by the Messrs Seavill, to which full justice was done.
