CHARACTER IN FACES.

Men whose noses that, when viewed iu profile, appear arohed are usually witty aud clever iu conversation. A prominent nose and bold chiu are the most favourable combination known to the physiognomist. A well-arched forehead, with one alight perpendicular wrinkle, belongs to a wise and discreet character. Indulgence iu bad tempers may stamp them on the face so iudelibly that they appear natural characteristics. A forehead which iu the upper part projects, aud in the lower siuks in towards the eyes, shows mental weak ness. The upper part of the countenance is the s«at of thought, labour, aud resolution : the lower half indicates action. Loug foreheads, with close-drawn skin which shows no wrinkles, are the characteristics of cold selfish natures. When the corners of the mouth turn downwards the indication is a scornful, contemptuous, opiuionative man or woman. Horizontal eyebrows, show great understanding, deliberation, aud capacity for planning and execution. Prominent arched eyebrows sho.v great powers of perception in regard to form and colour ; all great painters have such brows. Large noses are invariably associated with strong traits of character : whether good or bad is determined by other characteristic?. Black, sparkling eyes, with a steady grave mouth, show taste, elegance, sound judgment, aud often ungwuerous disposition. A face which does.not change expression iu conversation indicates either caution or stupidity, according to its other characteristics.
