ScuooL Committee.— The usual monthly meeting of the School Committee was held on Wednesday. A letter was received from the Chairman of the Te Awamutu Committee, inviting the cooperation of the Committee to make up the required number (three hundred) of passengers for their proposed school excursion to Te A roha and hack, early in November. It was resolved that the Secretary reply that the Kihikilu School Committee do not approve of the proposed excursion, and prefer to arrange au excursion for their own school at another date and to another place, so as to suit the Kihikihi school children and parents. It was also resolved that a subcommittee be formed consisting of Messrs Clark, Thomson and Wilson to inspect the school reserves and take steps to have the same cleared and ploughed, with a view to fencing in some four or five acres fcr an additional horse paddock and play ground ; the work to be done by tender. The following iccounts were passed for payment:—J. G. Elmsly lfe 6d, B. McDonnell 3s, B. Kellagher 4s. Volunteers.—On Wednesday night last Captaiu Keid and Adjutant Grant were heve to meet the newly-formed volunteer corps. There was a good muster in the Town Hall, where a pre liminary drill was held. A meeting was also held, when Mr G. H. Walker was elected Captain, and other officers were choseu. Rabuit Day.—The rabbit skin payday wa> on Wednesday last, a very cold and showery day. here. There was a large muster of natives in the township, aud, I understand, a considerable increase over the last few mouths in the number of skins purchased on behalf of the Government. Milk Suppliers' Meeti.no.—A meeting of suppliers to the Kihikihi creamery was held on Monday afternoon at the Star Hotel, for the purpose of obtaining members for the milk suppliers union and to talk over matters of material interest. Most of the local suiters were present and became members cTthe union. The total supply for the month of August at the Kihikihi Creamery was 47SG gallous.-(Own Correspondent).
