SERIOUS THOUGHTS.

THE WILL OF COD.

Why do so many unconsciously connect the prayer " Thy will be done " with sorrow ? Have we so hard a task — master whose will it is that his servauts groan under heavy burdens ? ' No ! Jesus says " Come unto me all ye that lubour ami are heavy laden and I will give you rest .... for my yoke is easy and my burden light " Even in old days David was inspired to say " Like as a father pitieth his children so the Lord pitieth them that fear Him " which thought Jesus develops when He reproves anxiety about worldly things with " Your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things." What greater joy to good parents than to see their children happy—How much more is it God's will a pleasure to see us rejoice. - It is also mo3t ungratefel not to enjoy the good things our Father sends us. As Miss Tugelow says : " Joy is the grace we say to God " Could we hut get David's spirit when he said- " I delight to Thy will, Omy G„;l " —We should never think " Should I have chosen this or that occurrence " hut enjoy doing whatever makes up our life just because it is God's will, (living up our own will aud, not only submitting but, delighting to do God's will, is not that a Christian's life's aim summed up in few words ? (F ) 1 worship thee, sweet will of God ! And all thy ways adore, And every day I live I seem To love thee more and more. Thou wert the end, the blessed rule Of our Saviour's toils and tears ; Thou wert the passion of His heart Those three, ami thirty years. And He hath breathed into my soul A special love of thee, A love to lose my will in His And by that love be free. He always wins who sides with God, To him no chance is lost : God's Will is sweetest to him when, It triumphs at his cost. All that Ho blesses is our good, Aud unblest good is ill: And all is rigli t that seems most wrong, If it be His sweet will! Fauisk (F.)
