♦ ■ The Waikato Argus Office, Wednesday. MR W. J. HUNTER'S OHAUPO STOCK SALE. On Tuesday at Mr W. J. Hunter's sale about 250 head of cattle were yarded. Dairy cows were well represented, over 50 being offered and nearly all of a good class, for which there was a demand for anything near profit. Calves were numerous of a pood quality and in good condition, and although prices did not rule high, there was a Rood demand and all sold under the hammer. There were a few pens of grown steers in -forward condition ; but prices for that class of cattle seemed to have a downward tendency. Freeh empty cows and heifers sold fairly well. There was a moderate sale for beef. Prices as follows :—Dairy cow<<, close to profit, from £4 to £5 ; backward, from £3 to £4 ; good springing heifers, from £3 8s to £4 6s ; calves (mixed sexes), from 19s 6dto 25s ; empty cows, from £2 3s to £3 Id : three-year-old steer 3, fresh condition, from £4 10s to £5 8s ; two-year-old heifers, from 30s to 35s ; young bulls, 20s each ; empty heifers, fresh condition, £2 12s ; fat cows, from £3 15s to £4 10s ; fat heifers, £3. Sheep : About 600 were yarded, all of a very good class. One line of 350 longwool hoggetß, selling at 7s 3d ; ewes, in lamb, from 8s to 8s 10s ; small hoggets, 4a Bd, there was fair competition and all sold under the hammer.—(Own Correspondent). MR W. J. HUNTER'S NGARUAWAHIA SALE. Mr W. J. Hunter reports :—At Ngaruawahia on Thursday, August 18th, there was a large muster of cattle, also a good attendance of buyers, principally occasioned by the sale of Mr A. Nicol's dairy cows. There was a good demand and all sold satisfactorily, prices realising up to £5 lis, but mostly sold for £4 10s to £5. Cattle of all descriptions were required, and all sold with exception of some dairy cows in very low condition. Prices were : 3 and 4-year-old steers, £3 10s to £4 4s; choice yearlings (mixed sexes), £1 5s to £1 7s ; calves, 12s to 16a ; fat steers, £6 10s to £6 17s 6d ; fat cows and heifers, £3 to £4 10a ; dairy cows, £3 10s to £5 lis ; milk cans, 15s to £1 10s each.
