PIAKO COUNTY COUNCIL.
The monthly meeting of the above was held at Moninsville on Thursday. Present : Councillors TV. P. Chepmell (in the chair), VV. Ring, A. Aitkcn, N. I. Hunt, A. J. Farmer and T. Gavin. Cambbidgk-Tauranoa Road.—ln reply to the Council's support of the Tanranga County Council's request that a sum be placed on the Estimates for aid in completing this road, the Lands Department advised that the matter was under consideration.
Bank Overdraft.—The Clerk reported that the overdraft at present was £1022 14s Bd.
Subsidies, etc.—The following were reported as being available : £36 18s 3d being goldfields revenue to 18th|June, £125 for repairs to Waiorongomai Tram.—The Council having asked for aid to repair flood damage, the Mines Department advised that the Government would grant a subsidy at the rate of £1 for £l, as follows :-le ArohaGordon Road, £IOO ; Waioroucomai Tram, £SO; Murphy's Bridge, £l2. Specifications were ordered to be prepared for work in accordance with these votes, the amounts in each case being doubled.
Gordon-Waharoa RoAD.--In reply to a request from James Orr, it was decided to defer letting contract for further formation on this road until the season was further advanced. Mrß. Montague having complained that he had not yet received certain pipes promised him by the Council. —A committee was appointed, consisting of the Chairman and Crs. Gavin and Farmer, to visit the spot and report on this and other matters in the district.
Waiorongomai Tkam Repairs.—Cr. Gavin was authorised to call tenders for 300 heart of kauri sleepers, and to accept the most suitable. Foremen's Reports. Geo. Wattam reported on the roads in his district, and was authorised to get the bridge at the end of Taylor's road over the Waihou drain repaired and decked as suggested in his report. He was also instructed to get the owners to remove all the trees which had fallen from their land on to the roads.—Geo. Mahood reported that on the Cambridge-Tauranga Road, near Bridgewater, there was a small bridge hardly safe for traffic and asked that it be put right.—The Council decided to have this done.
Valuation. The Valuer-General notified the Council that the cost of the valuation in the county was £94 4s sd, and requested the payment of the first instalment of same, £47 2s 3d.
