Adelaide, August IS. In the Legislative Assembly the Treasurer delivered his Budget Speech The year closed with a debit of £28,000, reckoning £50,000 paid off the public debt. The revenue was £OI,OOO below the estimates. The present year shows a surplus of £2OOO. No new taxation is proposed. The conversion of loans had resulted in the saving of £25,000 in interest annually. WEST AUSTRALIAN FINANCE. Perth, August IS. The Budget speech has been delivered by the Premier in the Assembly. The estimated surplus for the coming jear is about £SOOO. The total trade of the colony last year was £10,358,000. The exports iucreased by over £2,500,000. He introduced the proposed tariff reductions which total £45,000. Included is a decrease in duties on cattle, horses, pigs, chilled and tinned meats, bacon, hams, cheese, oatmeal, clothing and is partially reimbursed by the imposition of a 5 per cent, duty on machinery, twopence per gallon on local beer. The Government did not intend at present to ask the House to authorise loans for the construction of railways, which have to wait.
