MILK SUPPLIERS' UNION.
The first meeting nf delegates to the above was held at Ohaupo on Tuesday. About twenty delegates attended. Mr J. Fisher was voted to the chair and explained the object of the meeting, and said he hoped the delegates came prepared with some definite programme ; he would like to see all the creameries represented. Mr W. Higginson said it would be very inconvenient for delegates from Wailoa or Te Arr.ha to attend a meeting at Ohaupo, as they would have to stay two nights, but if held at Hamilton they could come and go back the same day, and it would be more central for all parties. • The Chairman thought the suggestion a good one.. A letter was read from Mr M. Butler offering his services as secretary free of charge the first year.—The ofljtr was accepted with thanks. Mr T. Paterson was appointed Secretary to the meeting. . The following creameries were represented :—Ohaupo, Te Awamutu, Kihikihi, Pirongia, Harapepe, Whatawhata, Te Kowhai, Ngaruawahia, Pukeritr.u, Hamilton and Paterangi. The Chairman submitted a draft of rules for the guidance of the Union, which it was decided would be considered seriatim. The following is a digest :—•(!) To be called the Waikato Milksuppliers Union; (2) Union to comprise all suppliers to Dairy Association ; (3) that each member pay 2s 6d per annum to the funds ; (4) the object of the Union to act in all matters pertaining to the industry for the mutual benefit of the members ; (5) the suppliers of each creamery to elect delegates ; (6) the delegates to hold office till the 31st May each year, or until their successors are elected ; (7) relates to the election of a chairman ; (8) a treasurer and secretary to be elected ; (9) an executive council to be appointed, consisting of the chairman, treasurer, and five delegates ; (10) quarterly meetings of delegates to be held in Hamilton, the executive council to meet once a month at such times and places as may be necessary ; (11) extraordinary meetings of members of the Union may be called at Hamilton, when requested, by two delegates and confirmed by the executive council; (12) the council to hare power to call special meetings of delegates ; (13) decision of council to be considered final ; (14) every resolution affecting the members of the Union and approved by three-fourths of the delegates shall be considered binding on the (15) relates to filling up vacancies in the council ; (16) provides for the resignation of delegates; (17) provision is made for assisting members who have been assessed in damages for breaking the Dairy Association rules, provided they were not wilfully negligent ; (18) annual general meeting to be held before the 16th June, when a report and balancesheet is to be laid before members ; (19) at meetings of delegates ten to be a quorum, and at meetings of the executive four to form a quorum. On the motion of Mr Higginson, it was decided that a copy of the rules be supplied to each delegate, and that ihey get the signatures of the suppliers to agree to those rules. , The next meeting is to be held in \ Hamilton in a fortnight, of which due ; > notice will be given, i A vote of thanks to the chair and to Mr Paterson for acting as secretary concluded the meeting.
