WRECK OF A SHIP.

A TERRIBLE TIME. ELEVEN LIVES LOST. (BY TELEQKAI'II.—PEISSS ASSOCIATION). (Received August 15, 10.30 p.m.) Launckston, August 15. JoHANXESBN, one of the survivors of the barqueutine C Funk', states that the vessel encountered a severe gale on the '2Bth July. Six feet of water were found in the hold, and the steam pump was damaged and unworkable. The water was reduced by degrees, but a second gale was encountered two days later. The captain got a sight and found he was twenty miles out in his reckoning. He ordered a sharp look out to be kept for land, and on August Ist, at daybreak, land was descried ahead. The vessel was tearing before a tremendous gale, and before they could heave to, the vessel was in the breakers and struck Flinders Island broadside on with a terrible crash. The captain got his wife and children on deck in their night garments. The women were very brave, but the children cried bitterly. The boats were ordered out, but they were dashed to pieces as they swung out. The hands then took 40 the rigging, each officer carrying a child and and the captain supporting his wife. Johannscn and Keog, the two survivors, weut to the forecastle head and ultimately jumped into the sea and secured a plank, on which they were washed ashore. Suddenly the vessel canted seaward and the masts snapped off, throwing their living freight into the angry sea. The names of ahose drowned are : Captain Missen. wife and two children, Chief Officer Hansen, Second Officer Stumps and crew :—Olsen, Nelson, Heckles, Johnson and Uonton.
