The Waikato Argus Ofmce, Wednesday. MR VV. J. HUNTER'S OHAUPO STOCK SALE. At Ohaupo on Tuesday, at Mr W. J. Hunter's Yards, there was a good muster of stock ; about 350 head of all classes were yarded, dairy cows being the chief feature of the sale. About 80 head of that class was offered, there was a demand for anything of a good class and near profit; these sold freely up to £slßs, the majority fetching from £4 to £5 ; old cows and backward springers were neglected. Springing heifers also sold fairly well, of which there was a good line from Mr McMicken, of Tuhikaramea. Not many grown steers offered, and only a few pens of calves, for which there was a moderate demand. Fresh empty cows sold freely at fair prices. There was but a moderate supply of beef, which had an upward tendency. Owing to the large number of dairy cows offered the sale was protracted. The following are the quotations :—Dairy cows, of a good class (of which Mr Ross, of Kihikihi, had a good line in), from £4 10s to £5 18s ; second class, from £3 10s to about £4 103 ; aged and backward, from £2 10s to £3 ; springing heifers, wellbred, from £3 2s 6d to £3 12s 6d ; yearlings (mixed sexes), from 22s to 30s ; calves (mixed sexes), 16s 6d ; three-year-old steers, in fresh condition, from £4 Is to £4 5s ; one pen of small fat steers, £6 ; two and a-half year-old steers, £3 10s ; empty cows, from £2 5s to £3 2s ; do. heifers, £2 10s ; fat cows, from £4 2e to £5 8s ; fat heifers, £3 15s ; small fat steers, from £5 15s to £6 10s. Sheep : About 600 were yarded, most of them hojfgets ; but the demand was moderate and many pens remained unsold. Good longwool ewes in lamb, 9s 6d ; aged ewes, 5s 6d ; hoggets, up to 8s 4d. -(Own Correspondent).
