FURTHER AMERICAN SUCCESSES.

(by electric telegraph—copyright) {Received Augusts, 1.10 p.m.). Washington, August 7. The American forces, under Brigadier Haines, captured Guayama, a town in Puerto Rico, 37 miles south-east of San Juan, after a slight skirmish. Pressure is being brought to bear on the Spanish Commander of the Cuban Port Munzanillo, recently bombarded by the American fleet, to surrender. The residents are anxious that he should do so ; but the Commander desires the American fleet to make a further demonstration against the town sufficient to prevent his being courtmartialled.
