AUCKLAND MARKETS. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) report:—Auckland W T ool Stores, Wednesday.—We submitted a good catalogue of hides and skins at our sale on Tuesday. Hides showed a general weakening iu values, especially in the case of light hides. We sold : Heavy stout ox, 4|d to s}-d lb ; medium, 3Jd to 4^l; light, 3d to 3f d ; cow, sound, 3d to 3£d, scored, id to less; kip and calf, 3d to 4d ; stags, to 2d. Sheepskins: Large, 3s 3d to 4s each ; small and medium, 2s 3d to 3s. Tallow : Best rendered. 14s 6d to 15s 9d cwt; rough fat, lfd lb. Horsehair, 9d to lip lb; tails, Is 4d doz. Oats: The market is showing a better feeling. No oats have arrived from the South during the week, nor are any shipments expected for the next four or five weeks. Stocks that are held here should, therefore, rapidly run down. Present prices are 2s 6cl to 2s 6id bushel, ex store. Maize: Shipments are again small this week, and prices have ruled Id higher, selling at 2s 7d bushel, on wharf, with an upward tendency. Chaff is selling freely at £4 5s ton at railway. Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons' Weekly Report.—At the Hay market, meadow hay has brought from 3s 6d to 4s 6d ; straw, 15s to £1 load ; maize, 2s Sd ; feed oats, 2s 4d to 23 9d ; seed oats, 3s 3d ; barley, 2s 6d the bushel; carrots, £1 10s ; potatoes, £6 5s to £7 10s ; lucerne hay, £4 10s ; straw chaff, £3 ; oaten chaff, £4 15s ; Chesterfield guano, £3 10s ; Biggs bonedust, £6 ; potato manure, £7 ton ; pressed hay, £5 ton ; oaten chaff at station, £4 5s ton ; maize on wharf, 2s 6d bushel. On Friday draught horse stock, from medium to good quality, yarded numerously, and sold freely, prices ranged from £l6 to £2B ; dog-cart, £ls ; dray and harness, £l2 ; spring cart,. £5 ; spring cart and harness, £lO 15s ; roadster gig, £4 15s ; were the prices obtained. On Tuesday hides were without change in values, ox hides were from 3Jd to 4Jd ; cow hides, 2fd to 3|d ; calfskins, 2d to 3£d ; stag, l|d lb ; stair, l|d lb ; tallow, 14s 3d to 16s 3d ; bones, 3s 6d cwt ; fat, ljd lb ; skins better worth, fresh skins brought from 3s to 4s Id ; dry skins, Is 5d to 3s 4d each ; horsehair, Is ; bags of wool, 3Jd to 5d lb. At Remuera on Thursday, dairy cows, yarded numerously, were not required, many passed, those at profit sold ranged from £3 to £6 2s 6d ; store cattle at moderate values. Calves in full number, 70 sold, fully kept last week's Improved values. Days old calves, 3s to 6b 6d ; weeks old, 9s to 14s ; three months, 23s to 28s each. Fat cattle, in average number, 234 sold, were steady throughout the sale at from 20s to 23s 1001 b, varying with quality. Sheep in average number, 1400 soldj all wellfatted and bought by the trade, prices improved, wethers were from 9s to 17s ; ewes, 8s 6d to 13s ; hoggets, 6s to 14s each. Pigs short of requirement, 56 sold, were at full values ; porkers ranged from 15s to 36s each. Messrs Hunter and Nolan's Report. Horsefeed, seed, grain, etc. : Maize is selling ou wharf, 2s 7d ex store; 2s 9d bushel; feed oats, 2s lOd ; seed oats, 3s 3d ; bran, £4 10s ton ; chaff. £4 5s to £4 lo.s. Horses: At the Durham Yards on Friday horses were brought forward in slightly increased numbers, but bidding was slow, although most lots changed hands by auction. Heavy draughts realised from £l7 10s to £24 17s 6d; medium draughts, £lO 10s to £l6-158; hacks and light harness horsed, £S 15s to £9 2s 6d ; weeds, los to £1 12s 6d. Wool, hides, skins, and tallow: About the usual quantities were brought forward, and disposed of at a shade under last week's rates. Ox hides sold from 3|d to 4|d lb ; steers and cows, from 2|d to 3£d ; calfskins, 2{d to horsehair, Is 2d ; tails, Is 3d dozen ; bones, £3 los ton ; tallow, 12s 6d to 15s cwt.: sheepskins, Is 6d to 4s 3d each ; pelts, 8d to Is 3d ; wool, 4|d to s£cl lb ; pieces, 2§d to 3kl lb. Cattle : At the Newmarket Yards ou Tuesday fat stock was yarded in usual numbers, and prime quality showed a rise of fully 2s per 1001 bon last week's quotations. We quote: Oxen from £1 to £1 3s 1001 b; cows, 17s to 19s ; steers made from £5 2s 6d to £10; cows, £3 10s to £7. Dairy cows yarded in small numbers and of poor quality, were not wanted, and sold at from £2 10s to £5 2s 6d. At Papakura Yards on Wednesday, dairy and store stock were yarded in usual numbers. Springers brought from £3 2s 6d to £5 12s 6d ; dry cows, £1 03 to £2 12s (id ; calves, 13s to £1 Is; grown steers, £3 12s 6d to £4 2s bd. Sheep: The Newmarket Yards were fairly well rilled on Tuesday, aurl advanced fully 2s per head on last week's quotations. We quote: Fat wethers from 12s 6d to 163 9d ; ewes, 10s to 143 3d ; lambs, fjs 9d to lis 6d. Pigs : Very scarce. Porkers, 15s to 278 6d ?acf. ; weaners, Is 6d to 8a 9d.
