DEATH OF MR J. T. GARLICK.

A cablegram was received in Auckland on Saturday, announcing the death of Mr J. T. Garlick, the managing director of the Tonson Garlick Company (Limited). Mr Garlick was an old colonist, having arrived in the colony in lSli.'i. He shortly afterwards held a "responsible position on the stafF of the .Southern Cross, a position he resigned in order to start business as a sharebroker during the mining boom at the Thames, and succeeded in accumulating considerable capital. He was a hading member of the Baptist Church, and took an active part in the temperance movement. Tie leaves a wife, three sons and two daughters.
