RE MR BARKER'S REMOVAL FROM THE TE AWAMUTU CREAMERY.
o TO THE EDITOR. Sir _The petition to the N.Z. Dairy Association, asking that Mr Charles Barker be retained in charge of the creamery at Te Awamutu, was signed by 32 of the suppliers ; of the remaining suppliers, six were away from home, and have since expressed their regret that they were not back in time to affix their names to the petition, whilst one only refused to sign it. But, in spite of this almost unanimous wish of those most concerned upon the matter, the acting manager of the company writes declining to accede to the suppliers' request, and adheres to his former resolution to remove Mr Barker from here. This determination upon Mr Pacey'sjpart is the more to be regretted when, from all accounts, some petty spitefulneas is at the root of it all. I am glad to hear the matter is likely to be taken up by others here also,—l am, &c, William North. [We have received another letter from Mr W. M. Shaw, very much in the same tone as above.—Ed. W.A.]
