Latest Eastnrn news states that the Spaniards at Manila are making great preparations for resistance, anil evidently intend to compel the Americans to bombard the city. The women and children and wounded soldiers have been removed to the walled portion of the town, and the suburbs and bridges approaching the city have been destroyed. The officers of the German warships are making themselves most agreeable to the Spaniards, and stimulating the troops to make a stubborn resistance. Friction exists between the rebel leaders, and two, who are suspected of attempting to form a party of their own, have been seized and imprisoned by Aquinaldo. Washington, July 14. The German attitude with regard to the Philippines is still more suspicious. Newe received here from Manila states that the German warship Irene threatened to fire if the rebels attacked Isia Grande. Admiral Dewey immediately sent two ships and captured the garrison, the Irene retiring on the American's appearance. A steamer with 3000 Australian frozen sheep reached Admiral Dewey's fleet on the 9th inst.
