NGAROTO DRAINAGE BOARD.
The first meeting of the newly-elected Board was held at the Council Chambers, Ohaupo, at noon yesterday. A\l the members, viz: Messrs W. J. Hunter, G. Finch, T. Fry, E. Ellis and D. Cananagh, were present. Mr Thomas Fry was elected Chairman of the Board, and Mr Dudley Bockett was appointed Clerk and Collector. The office of Mr Swarbrick, solicitor, Te Awamutu, was made the office of the Board. It was decided to classify the lands in the district in accordance with Section 32 of" The Land Drainage Act," so that lands will be rated in proportion to the benefit to be derived from the drainage works, lands not benefited to be exempt from rating. It was decided to invite applications for the position of engineer to the Board to prepare necessary plans and specifications and supervise the works contemplated by the Board. It was arranged to hold the meetings of the Board at their office at fe Awamutu at 5 p.m. on sale days.
