THE WEATHER IN THE SOUTH.
(by telegraph—press association). ChrISTCHDRCH, Last Night. ■There was a very heavy gale last night, but no serious damage is reported. Snow is falling heavily in the country •districts, and in some places there is three inches on the ground. Snow also fell in the city for an hour, and was followed by drenching rain.
