FOOTBALL.

Owing to the heavy rain on Saturday last, theTeAwamutu-Otorohanga match, which was to have taken place at Te Awamutu, was postponed, and will be played later on in the season. On Saturday next Te Awamutu play Paterangi at Paterangi, and Kikikihi v. Otorohanga at Kihikihi. At a meeting of the Waipa Union, held last week, the secretary was instructed to communicate with the Waikato Rugby Union, with a view to having a match between the above Unions, to he played at Hamilton about the 16th July, and the return to be played at Te Awamutu at the latter eud of the season. On Saturday last the Hamilton 11. team journeyed to Cambridge to try conclusions with the local seniors. Cambridge won by 11 to nil. The football match, Ohaupo v. Wai> ngaro, arranged to be played at Hamil ton, on Saturday last, did not come off, neither team putting in an appearance. No doubt this was due to the heavy rain experienced early on Saturday morning. A meeting of the Waikato Rugby Union will be held at the Royal Hotel, Hamilton East, on Saturday eveniug next, at 8 p.m. The arrangement of the fixtures for the second round and other important business will be brought forward. The team chosen to play Ohaupo on Saturday last was in the committee's opinion the strongest combination this club has put iu the field so far, the back division (which on previous occasions had been the weak point), being particularly good. The morning was extremely wet, but as the day wore on it greatly improved, and consequently at about one o'clock the team assembled, when a reply was received from Ohaupo asking for a postponement. Most of the players consoled themselves by going to the football ground aud indulging in a practice. (Ngaruawahia Correspondent).
