Potatoos : In steady demand, and enquiries are being made for seed. Butter : A little more plentiful. HAMILTON STOCK MARKETS. At the monthly sale, held in the Hamilton Borough Yards on Thursday, an average number of stock was yarded, with a full atendauce of the public. The cattle pens were filled with a good class, including a full supply (about 80) of fat steers and cows, for which competition was keen, at rates fully 20s to 30s per head higher than at the previous sale. A number of Paeroa butchers were present, and made their influence felt in the bidding, a lot of fat cattle going in their direction. In this connection, an opinion was freely expressed at the sale, that, in view of the number ot bnyfirs who come into Hamilton by the morning train, arrangements might be made to sell the fat stock, say, at from 11.30 a.m. to 12 o'clock ; also, seeing the good demand there i 3 for poultry and small goods, these might be sold by auction at 10.30 a.m. The sheep pens were rilled with a good class, and anything fit for the butchers was fully 2s 6d per head higher than hitherto. Pigs were scarce, and not in great demand. The prices were : —Calves, poor, 7a 6d to 12a 6d ; pood, well-grown calves, in brisk demand, from 16s to 20s ; 18-months steers (coarse), 25s to 28s ; two and a-half year-old steers (choice), £2 18s ; empty cows, poor and aged, 22s to 28s 6d; good fresh cows, £2 to £3 4s ; stags, £3 16a to £4 16s; fat heifers, £2 ISa to £3 14s ; fat cows, £3 10a to £6 ; Messrs Primrose Bros, getting the top price ; fat steers, £5 10s to £7 5s ; the most money again going to the Hukuuui graziers ; dairy cows, fairly plentiful, and of good quality. A pen of choice young cows—near profit—from Mr J. Livingstone, make from £4 to £5 lis ; medium cows, £3 5s to £4 ss. Sheep : Fat crossbred ewes, 8s 2d to 8s 7d ; fat longwool ewes, 10s 3d ; fresh longwool wethers, lis lOd ; store ewes, 6s lid ; fresh longwool hoggets, 6s 2d to ' 6s 9d. Pigs : Weaners, 6s 6d. Oaten chaff, good quality, £4 per ton on truck. A section of land on the HamiltonWhatawhata Road was offered by Mr W. J. Hunter ; but failed to elect a bid. A few horses were sold at current rates. AUCKLAND MARKETS. Thk New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) report:—Auckland Wool Stores, June 15.--Wo had a large catalogue and brisk demand at our auction sale yesterday. Hides : The market remains firm for all good lines. We sold: Prime stout ox, to 6gd ; heavy stout, to SUI; prime, 4d to 4Ad ; light, 3£d to 3id to 3|d ; scored and damaged, -Id leas. Sheep : Extra large sold at 3s 6d i* tkl, large 3a to 3s fid, small and medium 2s 3d to 23 9d. Tallow : The demand is good ; best rendered sold from 16s to 17?. Horsehair is worth la to Is 2d lb. Cow hair : 9i to 10£d lb. Bones in good demand, from £3 10a to £3 15s ton. Oats: The market is heavily stocked, and prices are ruling about leas, viz., 2a 7d to 2a TJd, for C and B j gradc3 on wharf. Maize sold freely this week at 3a on the wharf, which price should be maintained for shipments to arrive this week. New maize is Id cheaper. Chaff: There has been another rise of 2s 6d a ton, and chaff is selling freely at £4 5s at rail, with an upward tendency. Messrs. Hunter and Nolan's Repokt.—Horsefeed, seed graiu, etc. ; A good demand has prevailed, but no alteration in values. Wcquote; Maize, on wharf, 3a bushel, to 3s 4cl ex store ; feel oats, 2s 9d to 2s lOd ; seed, do., 3s Id to 3s 3d ; chaff, at railway £4, ex store £4 10a. Horses : At the Durham Yards on Friday there was a good muster, and moat of them found purchasers under the hammer. Draughts, from £l2 to £l9 17a 6d ; medium, do., £9 to £l6 15a; hacks and light harness horses. £7 15s to £l4 17s 6d ; weeds, from £1 to £3 2a 6d. The steeplechasers Ballyhooley, Itch, and Tip, made respectively I9j guineas 16 guineas, and 11 guineas ; and the raciDg pony Amiable 12 guineas. On Friday horse stock yarded numerously, were dull of sale, prices for draught horses ranged from £ll to £'.fi 10s; horse rugs, 12s fid to 17s each ; a spring cart, £lO ; harness, £4 7» fid ; English saddle, £4, were the prices obtained. On Tuesday, hides, skins, and wool were fully represented. Prices firm at late ((notations. At Drury, on Wednesday, a large number of dairy cows and a moderate number of store cattle were yarded. Dairy cows, at profit, were in demand, a great part bringing from £5 to £6 each, and general store cattle were at higher values than at last month's sale. At Remueia, on Thursday, dairy cows, fairly represented, were better worth. Those at profit ranged from £5 to £(i 17s fid each. Calves, io average supply, were at late values. Fat cattle, in average number (240 sold), mostly steers, kept lust week's quotations. Kindly steers were from 18s to '2oa 1001 b ; cows, better than last week, were from 14s to 19s 1001 b. Steers ranged from £5 to £8 17a fid each ; cows, £4 to £7 17s fid respectively. Sheep of all classes in full supply ; ISOO sold. Fat sheep were better worth than last week about fid each. Prices for wethers ranged up to 16a each ; ewes, 10a 3d. Lambs, in usual number, were at late values. Pigs, in less number than of late, scarcely kept late values ; GO sold.
