Acckland, Last Night At a meeting of the Auckland Racing Club Committee, a decision was come to regarding the institution of a, new race called the Century Stakes of lOOOsovs.. which il is proposed to place on the club's autumn programme of 1899. The committee decided to institute the race, the only alteration made in the conditions as originally drafted being increasing the distance from a mile and aquarter to a mile and a-half. A saving clause l)y which the club arc empowered to either reduce the stake or withdraw the race altogether should the number of nominations received be less than 150 has, it may be stated, been retained.
