TE AWAMUTU.

Town Boabd. —The usual monthly meeting of the Town Buard was held on Thursday evening last. The Commissioners present were : Messrs J. L. Mandeno (chairman), \V. North, Geo. Ahier, and J. B. Teasdale. It was deeided thai the Board pay half the cost of cleaning the footpath and water tables on the Station Road, the Waipa County Council to call tenders, etc. Commissioner North stated that the Town Band were in need of another baritone instrument, and was informed that an ex bandsman residing at Te Rore had one tor sale. The Clerk was instructed to write for particulars as to price and condition of the instrument. The question of the Board getting control of a portion of the Puniu Domain Board's property for a recreation ground was freely discussed. The accounts passed for payment were : Bearsley and Bygrave, £4 2s 6d ; VV. Bearsley, 16s ; C. Bygrave, 12s 6d. Wedding.—A quiet wedding took place in St. Paul's Anglican Church, Rangiaohia, on Thursday last, when Mr James Holdcu, eldest son of Mr Thomas Holden, one of the very early settlers, was married to a daughter of an influential native chief resident at Otorohanga. The service was conducted by the Rev. Hapimani, an uncle of the bridegroom, assisted by the Rev. Nikora (both native ministers of the Church of England). A goodly number of relatives and settlers attended, about forty.—(Own Correspondent).
