On Saturday Mr Reid wired the Premiers of the other colonies, stating that he could not support the Convention Bill, and suggesting another Conference of Premiers to see if it were possible to arrivo at any alterations in the Bill, which would make it more acceptable to the people of New South Wales, these alterations to be submitted to the respective Parliaments. He added that the people of New South Wales as a whole were sincere well-wishers for the cause of Australian union, and with some alterations the Bill would be accepted by a large majority. Adelaide, June 8. Mr Kingston replied to Mr Reid's telegram that as all the States represented at the Federal Convention had accepted the Bill, South Australia was not disposed to favour any proposals for alteration, and opposed holding another Convention. Melbourne, June 8. Mr Turner replied to Mr Reid cautiously. He says he is anxious to do anything in reason to obtain Federation, but doubts if Victoria will favour Mr Reid's proposal. He promises to submit the amendments Mr Roid desires to his colleagues.
