(BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION). Wellington, Last Night. At the opening of the criminal sessions, the Chief Justice said the cases were mostly of the ordinary character. In the child murder case, he told the Grand Jury the point to be considered was whether the child had breathed or not. He also alluded briefly to Craig's case. Tbos. McNab, theft of a cash box, and Frederick Charles Trosswell, theft of money belonging to his employer, pleaded guilty, and Neil Nelson, charged with rape at Pahiatua, was convicted of indecent assault. All three were remanded for sentence.

The Grand Jury threw out the bills against Madeline Cross for infanticide, and against George Cooper for theft. True bills were returned in all other cases.
