THE PREMIER AT FEILDING.
GOVERNMENT PROPOSALS FOR THE COMING SESSION. (BY telegraph —press association). Wellington, Last Night. Speaking at Feilding, the Premier said Mr Pirani had distinctly pledged himself before the election to vote with the Government on confidence motions, and he ought now to resign, as he Would never have been elected hut for that pledge. Among the Government proposals for the comiug session would be the extension of the municipal franchise, improvement in the local government Rystem, voting for rating on unimproved values by a simple majority, State fire and accideut insurance. *He had had tables prepared and risks calculated for accident insurance, and he knew nothing better that the State could take up. He was still prepared to stand by his Technical Education Bill. The chairman of the Wellington Education Board had gone through it, and told him he could not see that the Bill had the tendency charged against it. The Government wished to administer the liquor laws fairly but not harshly. There must be tome certainly, but he looked upon it as a side issue. He referred to the reduction in railway charges, concessions school children, facilities to settlers, ana the acquisition of land for settlement. The present Government had done more for defence*than any other, as would be found when the Commandant's report is made public. A vote of thanks and confidence in the Government was passed unanimously.
