WAIKATO FRUITGROWERS' ASSOCIATION.

The quarterly meeting of the above Assosiation was held in Mr Teddy's Ohaupo Hotel on Tuesday last. Present : Messrs Farrar (President), in the chair, J. T. Edwards, Johns, Tierney, Davidson, Obye, Forketc, and several others. The Secretary (Mr Ohye) eaid. ia re* ply to enquiries, re the sale of Waikato fruit at Wangauui, that he had been informed there would not be an opening in that market. After consfderable discussion, it was decided to defer the question of receiving quotations from the South until the next meeting. Copies of the fifth anuual report of the Auckland Fruitgroweis' Association was laid on the table, the members present purchasing one each. Copies can be procured from the Secretary. An extract from the Canterbury Times of May 18th was read, in which Mr Palmer, the Government Pomologist, called in question the intelligence of the North Island fruitgrowers and spoke in a disparaging way of the manner in which they received instruction re the management of their orchards. —The meeting regretted Mr Palmer's remarks, and thought they were quite uncalled for.

Mr Tierney said he wished to bring a matter before the meeting, and, although it was not a subject in connection with fruit-growing, still it was one of importance to farmers, and was the establishment of a branch of the Waikato Farmers' Club Ohaupo, the meetings to be held once a quarter.— The members present seemed to coincide with Mr Tierney's views, the chairman remarking that the Waikato farmers ought to have an analyst of their own to test the accuracy of the analyses given with the several manures purchased in the market—After some further discussion, the subject was left iu abeyance till next nreeting. A vote of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting.
