WELLINGTON SHOW GROUND.
(BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION). Wellington, Last Night. The committee which was appointed to go into the question of a site for a show ground, reports that after examining the claims of eight other suggested localities they find that the present site at Petone is the best. It would, however, be much improver! by running a siding on to the ground, which could be done tor £2OO or £3OO. The Railway Department also promised to providu better carriage accommodation and slightly reduce the fares.
A meeting of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association decided to retain Petone as the site at present, though they recognised that a site in the town will be more advantageous to those who found the greater portion of the prize money. The Association decided to endeavour to increase the membership.
