LATE MR GLADSTONE.

Mr Gladstone is lying in state in the study of Hawarden Castle, attired in evening dress, which is covered with the robes of Doctor of Civil Law, with the embroidered cloth, the gift to Mr Gladstone from the Americans, lying over the feet. Westminster Hall, where the body is to lie in state in London, will be thrown open to the public on Thursday and Friday. The pall-bearers at the funeral will be the Prince of Wales, Duke of York, Lord Salisbury, Mr A. J. Balfour, Lord Rosebery, Lord Kimberley, Sir W. V. Harcourt, Duke of Rutland, Mr George Armisteadj formerly M.P. for Dundee and Mr H. Baron Randell, whose daughter married Gladstone's third son. The Agents-General of Australian colonies will attend the funeral. London, May 26. At a meeting of the members of the National Liberal Club, Earl Carriugton, moving a vote of condolence to the Gladstone family, said the memory of their chief would ever remain a national possession. Mr Gladstone's body was brought to Westminster Hall to-day. The railway stations along the route were crowded with mourners. Forty friends watch by the body alternately throughout the night.
