AUCKLAND NEWS.
(BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION). Auckland, Last Night. The work of erecting the exhibition buildings has been commenced. The Chamber of Commerce to-day decided that the local frozen meat trade was of insufficient magnitude to warrant joining in the movement to establish a Frozen Meat Association for the colony. At the Police Court several men were fined 40s for having dead hen pheasants in their possession, the action was taken on account of the large destruction of hen pheasants lately. In connection with the electric tramway, Bingham, who represents one of the companies, withdrew his original offer and sealed envelope and made a fresh offer on his own behalf. He deposited a thousand pounds guarantee. The request of the representatives of other companies for a fortnight's extension to make fresh application was granted.
