MAORI DISTURBANCE.
PRISONERS GOMMITTED. (by telegraph.—press association). Auckland, Last Night, Hone Toia and fifteen other Maori prisoners have been committed for trial on ail the charges. Mr Earl, for the defence, argued that the prisoners were not guilty of treasonable conduct or attempting to levy war on the Queen. They simply made an armed demonstration, and nothing more serious could be charged against them than unlawful assembly. The Magistrate held that there was sufficient evidence of treasonable intent.
