TE AROHA AGRICULTURAL AND HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
The annual meeting of the above Society was held in the Town Hall on Wednesday, Mr W. H. Hemes, M.H.R., occupying the chair. The Secretary (Mr W. Hill) submitted a report and balance sheet, from which it appeared that the late show (held in February) had been a complete success. The gross proceeds were £lOl, which was an increase ot £4O on the previous year. After paying all expenses there remained a credit balance of £ls 16s lOd. The Society made a special feature of stock exhibits at the last show, and the large number of entries received for this class, showed that the public thoroughly appreciated the new departure. The Chairman moved the adoption of the report and balance-aheet, and in doing so referred in complimentary terms to the services rendered by the committee and officers, to whose energy the success of the late show was due. The motion was carried unanimously, as was also a vote of thanks to the outgoing committee and officers. The Secretary was voted £5 5s for his services. Several suggested alterations of rules were referred to the incoming committee for attention. The election ot officers was then proceeded with, the following being elected : —Patron : Hon. A. J. Cadman. President : Mr W. S. Allen. Vice-presi-dents: Messrs \Y. H. Herries, A. Aitken, T. Gavin and D. McNicol. Secretary : W. Hill. Treasurer: A. YV. Edwards. Auditor : H. F. Gotz. Committee : Officers ex officio, and Messrs F. Strange, Bowler Bros , McKenzie, Edwards, Hetherington, Farmer, Rowe, McFarland, Borrie, Jackson, Bossons, Bellamy, Cribb, Marshall, May, Hanks, Newsome, Hinton, Schofield, Brown, Cox, Nelson, Strange jun., and Rowe
