The Spanish Government is becoming alarmed at the rapid spread of discontent consequent upon the Spanish misfortunes in the war, combined with a scarcity of bread. Carlists continue to subject the existing Spanish dynasty to public insult. Members of the Spanish Senate blame Senor Moret, Minister of the Colonies, for shirking his responsibility. The riots at Linares are of a serious character. The mob refused to disperse and the troops fired ou them, killing 14 and wounding 60.
